People: Me and my kids, petekd
Duration: 14:00 - 16:30
Tide: HW 15:00ish
Weather: mild, breeze, misty/damp
Bait: Pete's Lug :D for us anyway
Rigs: 3 hook flappers, single hook flapper
Results: 1 Flounder to me, 1 Coalfish (between me and my son), nowt to Mr Davis
Report: Got a text from Pete that he some bait to use up, I was doing some accounts, so a no brainer on my part :D
Conditions not as calm as we expected, good swell on the beach, but not what we were looking for from this venue (especially with the kids).
Tried the kids out with their small rods, but they couldn't hold bottom so we abandoned their rods after a couple of casts.
Anyway got the flounder (28cm) to lug after an hour or so. Pete redoubled his efforts, but we got the coalfish (35cm) a cast our two later (I cast, my son retrieved). I'd say both were about 40yds out...
By this time my daughter was using my jacket as a tent, and my son was soaked after spending most of his times flirting with the waves and it was time to leave, so we trudged back up the beach.
A caning for Pete from a six year old :P and we were using his bait - does it get any better.
Now can I keep this going till the next comp.....
Cheers to Pete for the shout and the bait.

Aye, the shame....  Did I not mention? I'm lulling ou into a false sense of security for the munsters.... Not to worry, nice to be out fishing in the daytime for once. A decent surf seems to ruin the flattie action on this beach fwiw. Heavily coloured water had a big bait dropped behind the surf line in faint hope of something bigger running but it wasn't to be. Fair play on bringing the 2 kids, the sight of your little girl swamped in daddys fleece looking like maggie simpson brought a smile to my face. As for the young fella.... He managed to survive the day in not too bad shape but 20 yards from the exit off the beach proceeded to fall in.... Hope you weren't too late home by the way.
Stopped off at a local pier on the way home to save the blank with 5/6 whiting, rubbish sizes, biggest was 24 rest all about 18/19.
