Hi Guys
Fished the S Beach this morning. Caught a shed load of doggies, but nothing else. Did have one bite on a pennel rigged squid that pulled the tripod over, and tried to take the rod in! When I hit it, the rod hooped over, had something on for a couple of minutes, but the hook straightened :(
Don't know what it was, maybe a conger, but I guess we'll never know!
Cheers

Hi Billq.
The north beach is the steeper of the two, though is very snaggy in places. The south beach is cleaner, though it does have its snaggy areas.
I have found that baits only need to be fished at about 40 yds range to get fish. This is true for both beaches.
As for baits, Peeler seems to be doing the job at the moment, but rag and mussel will work as well. Species are codling, dogs, coalies, flats, maybe a bass, and huss, strap conger, and tope at night.
Wherever you decide to fish, Good Luck! :)
Cheers
