Report:Arrived in Bray at 8-45 and saw the lights of another angler on the pier. I had come out to chill out but panicked when I opened the boot and realised that I had left my warm, windproof, waterproof coat (with my gloves in the pocket!) at home  Luckily I had my wooly hat and it was mild enough at that time, later on I wore my wifes jacket which was on the back seat  . The other angler told me he had caught ling, whiting and doggies but that it was falling off now, not exactly what i wanted to hear, i wondered should i have arrived 2 hours earlier? I got all the gear out; lamp, bait, tackle box, rods etc and set up and I looked the part (except for the wifes jacket  ). After 3 blanks in a row i was hopeful of catching something, anything! I was going to set up 2 rods but as i'm always putting one down to pick up the otherone that gets the bite, and vice versa, i decided to concentrate on one rod. I got a few bites but didnt connect. Everything seemed ok but I must have been doing something wrong, i'm never exactly sure when to strike. I was dying to ask the other guy about how and when to strike, how to put the bait on the hook properly etc, but I didnt want to bother him too much. He caught another doggie and said his goodbyes. I then felt a tug and pulled in a doggie, happy days, the pressure was off  . This was followed by 2 more doggies and a whiting of about 25 cm, all on mack-squid, sandeel-squid combo's. I got a few more bites, probably from small whiting which were taking the sandeel out of the cocktail, maybe my hooks were too big, size 2/0 , but that was it for the night and i left at 11-45pm. I was delighted with the trip and it was a good start to 2008. ps a passerby told me that mars was visible in the sky, I wouldnt have seen that sitting at home in front of the telly.Wonder what he thought of me in the wifes coat
