Report:
A good show of 12 anglers for our final master angler comp of 2007. On our arrival at the beach, another comp was in full swing with the North Antrim lads already pegged out on the best part of the beach.

We decided to place our pegs to the left of their position in an effort to avoid the weed on the south end of the beach. Everyone managed to get set up for the 19.00 start and everthing was going well with a few fish landed until..... A MASSIVE and I mean MASSIVE gust of wind tore down the the Glen and along the beach taking with it, 2 beach buddies, 3 tackle boxes, two anglers, bait bags, bait buckets and about £600 worth of tackle, rods and tripods

On feeling and hearing the gust, I turned to my left and saw the wall of sand coming down the beach along with tackle boxes, shelters and lots of other debris.

Everyone made a charge for the water to retrieve as much as possible, we managed to get most of the gear back but a couple of anglers lost some expensive kit including a 7HT turbo - if anyone finds it, please let me know.

After that incident, 2 anglers had to call it a day (this was at 20.00). Very unfortunate and hard lines to those guys. We fished on and some anglers managed to land a decnt amount of scoring fish.

Personally, I landed several under-size whiting and flounder before managing a decent codling at 32cms, he took a rag and mack combo, I then managed a 22cms flounder on lug but nothing else for the rest of the night.

Stephen Purssell finished the night off in first place and also managed the largest fish with a coalie at 41cms - well done Steve.

Congrats to Jonny Snoddy for taking the Master Angler title for the second year running, he also managed to win the Club Knockout competition after a very close fight from Sean Gavin (hrad luck mate - almost).

One thing to take from last night - bury your gear in the sand on a windy night......

I'm sure that was scary enough to be in. Hope all the other guys get there gear back. well done in getting a couple of counters in what seemed to be a tough night for fishing.
