De Wall:
Pass where the ferry crosses over to Cobh. The first 100yds has a shrubbed area on your left. After passing that a wall about 4ft high shows for about 200yds. After that section the road bends to the right with a grassy patch with seats and trees on the curve. Parking is on the right just after the curve. Best fishing is done from the grassy patch to where the footpath ends before the tunnel
The fishing ground:
Casting 150yds + will get you on to clean ground and into about 60ft + of water where your are fishing another 20ft above the water mark so your looking at pulling up a fish at a 45 degree angler. Anything short of this and you on rock and weed. This is where the problems begin any big cod caught at distance has to be dragged oven this ground so a 6:1-1 retrieve and a rough ground rod is required. The best rig is a clipped down pully. Forget you 2/3 hook flappers and your big baits take it from me a clipped down pully, a 2/0 hook and a nice streamed line crab will get you the cod (if they are there). Beware I've had 4lb + cod bang their heads of the wall under the tip of the rod before I ever saw them. The big fish will keep their heads down the whole way in. Lost many a double figure fish because of this reef. If you do hit a good fish and get stuck DON'T try to drag it out let off some slack line and wait and see if the fish will try and pull it out.
Enjoy it, if it works and the plan comes together there is nowhere on this island to beat it.
