Report:
Took Aeden down to introduce him to the genteel pursuit of beach fishing. In retrospect, might have been kinder of me to take him out in daylight so he could see what he was doing, but after a couple of abortive attempts he got the bait into the water. His poor casting was no harm as after a minute he had some big bites on his rod, but slack lining it as he was retrieving (I was still explaining casting to him) the fish got off. Seemed to be a decent fish from what we could tell, possible bass??
John, being a law unto himself was getting bites the whole time, landing a few coalies and a whiting that I mistook for his baited lugworm due to its extremely small size! For some reason his exotic fish attractor wasn't functioning properly.
Pete joined us later, but let us down with a poor showing of zero fish. After the introduction I'd given to the lads on his behalf as well. Presumably he was spent after his battle with Alby the previous night?
Pretty quiet for a while before myself and Aeden landed the three coalies between us at about 11 o'clock.
Think Aeden enjoyed his first beach casting experience and has expressed an interest in coming again. Plus he has the satisfaction of outfishing Pete and myself (although in my defence I did give him my lucky rod and the best of my scarce bait  ).
All Johns fish came to lug on his hook trailing below the weight, the rest took our lug razor cocktail, ingnoring the single lug on the bottom hook.
Think the small tide and small surf affected the quality of the fishing, so roll on the big tides next week.

I must apologise for my dismal performance last night. The night got off to a brutal start with the mother of all birdies and crack offs. Sportsmag with a wig anyone....?? Should have turned on my heel then and gone home. Nothing on that beach a mite interested in my leftovers from Saturday night. Ho Hum. What an ass kicking, and on home turf too..... Ah, the joys.... Just over an hour was enough for me and tail between my legs I headed home.
