Report:
Haven't been to Balscadden for nearly a year so with the end to of the mackeral bashing season was hopefully the place woud be quite....Big Mistake. It was crawling and it was as filthy as the lifts in the 'Mun used to be. Had hours of aggro, as soon as I turned around to bait up a new gobsh*te appeared in the space I had been in. The only place they didn't try fish off was my top lip (':x'). We put everything back but was disgusted at what was put into buckets to take home, tiny whiting, tiny mackeral, rocklings, blennys...there were people fishing in the rock pools after the tide had gone out...(':x'). Does this negative behaviour bode well for the future of the whiting and mackeral species(':(')
Deep breaths..........Despite all that it was good to meet up with the breddas from Port Louise and if it wasn't for the bit of craic and the friendly rivalry it would have been a complete waste of time. The macks we got were just fingerlings (not sure if it is the right term for a baby one but it is such a lovely word and rolls off the tongue) as were they whiting.
Will be giving Balscadden a wide berth for a very long time.
