People:me and james

Duration:7-11.30

Tide:full at 12

Weather:mild and windy

Bait:lug,squid,rag and mackerel

Rigs:tope traces,pulleys and flapper

Results:dogfish,whiting,coalies and codling

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report:my camera man got a much needed brake off school so i decided i'd treat him to a night session on killiney. with a spring tide on the flood there where high hopes on a tope, but each mackerel flappers 20min stint in the water did nothing for our hopes not even a dog, at least the crabs got fed. infact for the first three hours resulted in nothing more than a lot of waisted bait and a velvet swimmer. then out of nowhere the fish decided it was time time to eat, pity it was getting late and bait was getting scarce! we reeled in a few nice whiting an the obligatory mini codling. then i landed the biggest fish of the night, a dog, yes thats how bad it was. before packing up i was very pleased to see my final cast result in a double shot of a nice coalie(my first one this year, picture doesn't do it justice) and another mini codling. i should get some vids put up later of our escapades.

Tide:full at 12

Weather:windy but mild

Bait:rag,mack and sandeel

Rigs:two hook loop rig

Results: 2 (unidentified fish) cod,pouting,poor cod,pollock, whiting

Catch and Release:: Yes/No

Report:the second part of my weekends fishing, the camera man could not make it so i set off to fish sorento point,the whiting were quite good averaging the 35cm mark

dalkey i caught two fish which i could not identify, the first is a angler fish typed body with a gurnard/sea scorpion head.

the second, which i did not get a pick of, as my battery went dead was a flat fish that looked a bit like a dab with what i can only describe as a peppering of black on its skin and a smooth back both ways, definitley not a flounder or plaice. help anyone?

where the whiting in the slack water in front at sorrento or at distance?

Mon Oct 29, 2007 8:39 pm

before the tide turn't i was basically uptiding for mini codling, fierce current there alright. they bigger whiting arrived about three hours after high water at distance on ragworms tipped with sandeel.
