Fished that area last week for a while, lost a fair bit of gear am I casting too far?? Still managed a good few fish with some nice coalies

Mon Oct 22, 2007 9:00 pm

losing a bit of gear is normal ,along with rocks, kelp and crabs their are areas that have wire cages filled with rocks about 40-50 yards out they used to protect the railway line and got washed out in a storm years ago so if you set up and start losing gear move :!: just on the greystones side of the stream can be bad it all depends how much sand is washed over the cages a fast reel can help and i always use a gripper to keep my gear from finding snags the tides can be strong in this area

Thanks Roger, sounds about right. It seems one of the best spots on the E coast at the moment.
