Report:
Went spinning along the outer wall of the West Pier about one knuckle from the end. All fish caught on an orange jelly worm about 4" long bounced along the bottom with a slow retrieve, no more than 5 yards from the shore. Good size as well - all in the region of 1lb-2lb. Also caught a surprise whiting about 1.5lb on the lure - a first for me. Lost one slightly better pollock in the kelp along the edge, didn't have the strength in the rod to stop the crash dive.
The lack of rubbish suggested that the mackerel bashers are finishing up for the season, there were a few knocking around but didn't see anything cauight. Having said that though, whoever bought the lovely new fishing reel would perhaps take the box home with them afterwards?

Read your report with joy, sounds like a good session for the back of the pier. Usually fish this quite a lot but during the bashing season it becomes a real pain to get any peace. I was pondering a return yesterday but didn't make it. Will be taking a day off during the week to give it a go. (:D)
And glad to hear the pollock have not been decimated by the " need it for soup / BBQ mentality" that usually accompanies the bashers.('')
