Report: Myself and Big Mick arrived at Cahore at 6pm Friday and fished till 3am. When we arrived the last of the swimmers were leaving the pier and we set up 2 rods each. we were soon into doggies , a dab and small whiting up to 35cm. Apart from a father and son combo we were the only ones on the pier. Nice to see that everyone was practising catch and release. the harbour side has a low drop to the water and i'm happy to say i saw all fish swimming away. We even saw a sea otter which I think must be a rare sight. There is a lampost on the pier which gave plenty of light after dark and we didnt need our lamp. Mick and I always have a friendly competition going on and this kept us there into the early hours. It was Mick 17- Dave 13 and I caught 2 more dogfish. Now 17- 15 and I had one last cast. This bite was stronger than all the others and after a struggle I landed what I thought was a bull huss. Anyways I told Big Mick it was one all the way home. It was bigger than the other doggies and had a much thicher head and body, mabye you guys could help me out with the I.D. ALL IN ALL A GOOD NIGHT FISHING.

yep the huss is a funny one - Scyliorhinus stellaris

its the nurse hound, a cat shark, greater spotted dogfish - but you rarely hear it called these OR the accronym gsd for that matter
