70 bass in 14 months is some cracking! That's about 60 a year - which is a great average by any standard. Well done!

Good fishing Ferg.

Ballyquinn could be one of the best, if not "THE" best beach in West Waterford, if the nets men left it alone. It gets a regular hammering each year.

Last year I got great fishing there until mid-November. Suddenly the fish "disappeared".

This seems to be the regular pattern.

Around the beginning of December the nets are set on this beach and that spells the end for good fishing.

I am fishing this beach 44 years ( have just turned 45!!!) and it was great until bass got a commercial value in the 70's. Within 3-5 years there were no bass to be caught there.

There has been a slow but steady recovery but the fish have had a few rough years from the nest and again recovery is slow.

I look forward to the day when Ardmore will become an anglers heaven again. Just think what it would add to the local economy.

Good report, got me all excited about coming back at Xmas until you said the fishing slows in early December!

Still, we'll have a go & I bet if there are any dog fish around I'll find them !
