Report:I decided to head over to Strangford and see if there was any mullet around and to take advantage of the decent weather. There was a strong breeze from the south west which isn`t very good for this particular mark but i thought i`d give it a go anyway and made my way round to the chosen spot.
On the way round i spotted some very big mullet in the shallows, fish of about 6-7lb.I put some bread infront of them but they weren`t interested so i kept walking to the best spot.Fron the minute i got there i could see about 30 different fish moving close in but i tried for an hour to get them feeding on the bread but they had no interest.
About 5mins after high water more mullet showed up but they didn`t hang around for long and were soon out of sight.Fortunately this mark has good numbers of mullet at it and when the tide turns they all swim past feeding as they go.I finally spotted a solitary fish taking bread from the surface as it headed towards me so i baited up and cast 15 foot infront of it.I think it read the script cos it gulped my bait down good as gold and screemed off 30 yards downtide. After about 10 mins it slid into the net and bounced the scales to 4lb 9oz :D
This will prob be my last chance for mullet this year so it was a nice fish to end with :)
