People:Alone
Duration:2hrs
Tide:Flooding
Weather:Fantastic
Bait:Frozen Mack and S.eel
Rigs:3 boom
Results:A trigger a cast...up to 1.5kg (specimen)
Catch and Release:: Yes - Thought about tasting one but got a feeling that they may taste like Wrasse ( My father took some wrasse home after a trip to the Islands when I was a kid and my Ma boiled them.....we had to sell the house!) and I declined. My father took some wrasse home after a trip to the Islands when I was a kid and my Ma boiled them.....we had to sell the house!
Report:The plan was to bait fish while spinning for Pollock. I was ledgering on the bottom for a few casts and then as this was not working I set up a rig with three plastic booms with 4" flowing trace on each. From then on it was a trigger a cast with 2 landed on one cast, I lost 3. Never got a chance to pick up the spinning rod. Some of the hits were fantastic bending the rod into a U shape. They sure put up a scrap mangling size 3 wire hooks, and the chomping while you try to disgorge them - eventually I just tried to straighten them out as best as I could with the gnarled hooks had no adverse effect. Best fun in a long time. Hardy beasts too, the first one was subjected to a phone photo and a weigh-in. After hair and make-up and finally getting a (poor) shot one handed as he spun around then hunting out the scales and weighing, he shot away 8)
Thanks Ronan for the mark info

I heard a great recipie for wrasse: Boil in a pot for 12 hrs with a brick......eat the brick!
That being said there are a few here who like them and I was fishing with an old man who swears they are the tastiest fish in the sea.
