Spur of the moment thing just frozen baits went out to try for a bass, second cast my sons friend first time fishing reels in a turbot about 4lb never heard of a turbot caught off donabate before the killing bait was razor tipped with mackerel. We ended up with 2 flounder 1 turbot 1 silver eel. The turbot was caught in about a foot of water about 5yds out a the top of the tide. :roll:

what an impressive catch, probably one of the best fish ive heard caught in the dublin area in a long time, not disrespecting any bass anglers but you just dont see too many turbot in dublin and especially of that size

very nice fish i hope that young lad realises he is one hell of a lucky lad :wink: .

considering i know of a local lad who sets plaice nets around that aera that has had a few turbot to his own surprise. he is also an angler but never caught a turbot by hook.
and before anyone jumps the gun I DONT AGREE WITH him doing any sort of netting.
i do often wonder why does he call himself an angler.
