Ballyloughan and Rinville, 21 Sept 2007

Fri Sep 21, 2007 7:06 pm

People:me

Duration: 11am to 5pm

Tide: high at 1.30

Weather: very heavy mist to start, then cleared bright and sunny for about 3 hours - then wind picked up and it got overcast again

Bait: lug and mack

Rigs: 3 hook flapper and paternoster and pulley

Results: zilch

Catch and Release:: Y

Report: headed to ballyloughan first, the accuweather got it right had predicted the rain clearing - was hoping to have been in earlier - have only ever got the flatties on the rise and was a bit too full once in there

had the flapper out on one and the pat on another

could see small ones (10cm) flying about but no interest in my bait - the crabs didnt even show

the sea was calm and then it picked up as it was on the ebb as did the wind

no more lug left so headed for Rinville - had expected it to be calmer but the wind had picked up considerably and strong from the SW couldnt cast any distance

stuck it out for 2 hours - lost a rig and then headed home

its not all champagne angling lads

i suppose ive caught more flatties there and its 20mins from home - its another 20mins on again to silverstrand and i never got one there!

otherwise its the 2hours to get one in connemara

its not that demented if you want to get a flattie
