Weather:Dull with plenty of drizzle(when does it never in Donegal) and F4 to F5 westerly
Bait:Lugworm, mackerel, sandeel, peeler crab
Rigs:Two hook clipped, two hook flappers, 1 hook running ledger
Results:Thornback Ray, Dabs, Plaice, Pollock, Scad, Mackerel, Dogfish, Red Gurnard
Catch and Release:: Yes
Report:Had the day off so headed to a mark that in the past has fished really well. Finally got up there and found three anglers already fishing, crap :evil: Bit of a small corner so room is restricted, but thankfully when i was getting the gear out of the car one of the other lads had packed up.
Cast two rods out when I got onto the rock, one large mackerel bait for rays and a two hook flapper baited with lug for any flats. Hopes were high but after two hours without a bite.....hopes were flat on their arse. Stuck on a lumo floaty bead on the flapper and this did the trick for two pollock, one of about 2lb and the other a little over. Nothing magical but at least a bit of action. Aside from a reasonable size dab I had to wait until the tide turned which was a long wait without so much as a bite
Then from about 7pm to when I finished there was a bit of action. Two small thornbacks popped up, one to crab and the other to fresh mackerel. Then a series of dabs/plaice came to lug and crab. Nothing was too big but at least the baits weren't coming back untouched. A couple of red gurnards also took the lug which surprised me as did a lone scad. Not great fishing but was happy enough with the two thornbacks.
Was really knackered by the time darkness started to descend, jumping about on uneven rocks for 8 hours really takes it out of you.

Was a bit of a wait lads to be honest, if I hadn't of stuck it out I would have missed that short window when the fish actively fed. Hope to nip back up there before the ray move off again.
