Report:I finished work early and decided to head out for a spot of mullet fishing before the rain came and ruined my chances for another week. When i arrived down i could only see 5-6 mullet moving around but thought it would be worth a go anyway and threw out some groundbait. It wasn`t long before they were taking the free offerings so i took my first cast. There was a big ripple on the water because of the strong breeze which made it difficult to see my bait but i only waited for 20 mins for the first bite.I struck and hooked into a very strong fish which took 50 foot of line in its first run.It was 10 mins before it was landed and weighed in at 4lb 6oz,my second biggest ever. :D
That was the last mullet i saw so i turned my attentions to the little gobys that are everywhere down at this mark.I found a packet of size 16 barbless hooks in my box and tied one on with a couple of split shot three inches up the line and baited it up with the smallest piece of mackerel i could cut. Then i dangled it in the shallow water and waited for a bite.2 mins later and "bang" the rod tip slammed over as fish screemed away with the bait! Only joking  ,i never even saw a bite,i just lifted the line out of the water and there was the smallest fish i`d ever caught hanging on the hook,a little sand goby. But it was a new species so i didn`t care.I caught one more sand goby before i packed up and headed home.
