People:me
Duration:2hrs
Tide: on the ebb
Weather:perfect
Bait:rag, crab
Rigs:1up 1 down
Results: dogfish and flounder
Catch and Release:: Yes
Report: :x Not a good session. Had no commitments for the day so decided to spend it fishing :D Picked up some nice rag for the day which was at least a 3hr round trip then set off on the bike :oops: to my destination. After hours of cycling :roll: (which i'm used to) and with a heavy bag and rods in tow I was happy to reach the beach at about 5.
Set up and the first cast produced a double shot of a flounder and a doggie. Things were looking good and conditions were favourable for the smoothie which was on my wish list.
Soon after I hooked a sea trout on my spinning rod which took about 10 metres out and went crazy, but while fiddling around with the reels drag it got off:x
There wasn't much happening on the main rod after the good start but as I was planning to stay into the night I wasn't really fussed as I expected things to pick up when darkness came.
However, went to cast out a large rag bait then "Crack" and the top third of my Greys Triplex went seaward. :shock: I checked the rod and there are now two cracks on the "female" section of the middle piece :cry: :cry: The only thing I can think of is that I hadn't pushed the parts together properly. Was only fishing with 4oz and wasn't power casting so am now rather annoyed. Had to go home fairly dejected after that and with some good bait wasted.

Hi Col
Don't triplex do lifetime guarantees, even allowing for a possible error on your part? Worth a phone call at the very least...

they do the lifetime guarantee, u send em off the broken part and they should replace it. its not free from what i've heard though. i think someone wrote about it on one of the forums here before,
