Clifden, Galway, 4th & 5th August 2007

Mon Aug 06, 2007 5:43 pm

People:Me and Graham Murray

Duration:A couple of hours each day

Tide:High approx. 9.30am and 10.10pm

Weather:Light rain, light wind, light seas

Bait:Various lures including tobys, dexter wedges and sandeel bars

Rigs:

Results:5 small pollock, 1 small wrasse & 1 small mackerel

Catch and Release:: The mackerel was kept for the pan

Report:Headed down to Clifden after Irish angler article filled my imagination with images of big pollock. Thought I was fishing streamstown bay on Saturday evening but later discovered it was the wrong bay. I was fishing directly across from the white lady when I should have been fishing the next bay. Looked for Ballinaga but not sure whether I was fishing it to be honest. I was fishing into Mannin Bay near the salmon farms. No big pollock showed though. Didn't connect with any coalfish either. I'll have another crack at it some other time though.

Hi John

You have PM

Yes, just back from a great couple of weeks around Clifden.
Great article about the area Kieran, I loved the photos

Have one lovely wrasse to report will do shortly.

Fished last night (Sun 5th) to no avail. Swell was too much for the last few days up there, if it quietens down it could be a very good time to fish if you're still around John.

Blackie

thanks
