Catch and Release:: kept both big ones released both small ones

Report: I’m not very good at writing reports but a brief description of this mark. I usually fish of the rocks to the furthest right, on the upper ledge (you can climb down to a lower ledge but I find this makes casting difficult) and it always produces some fish (with the exception of the 12th July last week). If you don’t mind losing some tackle fishing of the bottom on rag will produce wrasse, pollock and codling. I have fished with a float there before but didn’t know to let it drop deeper and therefore didn’t have much joy. Today I let it drop about 10feet and caught the biggest fish I have caught so far. Using Rag tipped with a bit of mackerel. This proved to be the best, the rag on its own wasn’t touched much and the mackerel on it’s own also wasn’t touched.

I got about an hour and half fishing before a father and son climbed down to the lower ledge and greatly restricted my ability to let the float drift. I didn’t mind as seeing a young lad pull in 3 wrasse with all the excitement it brings is just as enjoyable as fishing for myself. My father taught me to fish at this place and I taught my nephew only a month ago, which brought me back to fishing as an adult.

I have to admit I nearly missed the second and bigger fish as I was setting up another rod which I had been bottom fishing with and had lost tackle. I actually nearly lost my rod as the fish managed to tip the 14’ beach caster over my stand.

One downside is the amount of rubbish kicking about. Please Please Please take your rubbish home with you. I think next time I'll take some bag to lift some of it. Even more of a shame as there were many tourists who came over to talk to me and they were greeted with beer tins, plastic bags, cigarette packets etc.

I had nothing to weigh it with, the coke tin is 330ml anyone want to guess the weight (of the fish not the tin :-) )? Is this a decent size for a shore catch?

Nice one, never fished Garron myself, but seems you have done ok at it. As for rubbish, i am sick of lifting other peoples junk, i always take bags with me for my own rubbish and end up lifting other peoples when i am at it. Some will never learn, or else just dont care.
