People: Myself and sharon

Duration: 18.00 to 1.00

Tide: low about 20.00

Weather: bit of cloud but great otherwise

Bait: peeler

Rigs: pulley with 2/0

Results: Doggies and nice starry smoothie

Catch and Release: Yes

Report: Heard good reports of smoothies from North wexford beaches over the weekend so decided to give it a go. We have just got the first batch of CFB tags for smoothies so they are undergoing some preliminary testing now to check that the size is right.

Started off slow but then the doggies came in. Didnt' fancy wasting the bait on them so took a break for a while. Baited up again after some food and straight away whack. rod started bouncing all over the place. Started into it and it definitely felt like a good smoothie but it shook the hook. Probably my own fault for baiting it poorly. Anyway it mean't there was something out there besides doggies. After a long wait got a call from down the beach where they had a nice starry smoothie about 6.5 lbs. So i tagged that and sent it on its way. Then another long wait during which Pat set up beside me and soon enough hooked another starry. Put up a great fight. Tagged and released in perfect condition. Finally I got another bite and managed to land this one after a great fight. Just over 6lb starry male. Sent on his way with a shiny new tag in his fin. Hopefully I'll see him again some day. Nice night so hopefully back down there again this weekend.

If anyone is about and after smoothies let me know cause i'm trying to tag a few. Picture of the tags below in case anyone catches one of them. There is a number on one side and the the CFB contact details on the other. Just note the details and send the smoothie back with the tag in place to fight another day.

You too Pat. They were a bit slow alright. hopefully better this weekend if I get down that way.

Blaker - I got that one in the picture. A bit more successful these days than our trips down that way last year! If you fancy leaving those mullet alone give me a call.
