Hi All
Well last week we had one of our bi annual few days down in dingle, myself, my da and Eoin went as usual.
This year was to be purely rock and lure fishing as we have pretty much had our fill of beach and conger fishing over the last few years, so we decided to make this trip a more mobile one to find new marks, try out new baits and new tactics, catch a few big wrasse and hopefully even squeeze in an hour or two bass fishing. My da chucked in a fly rod two.
Overall the weather was awful, strong westerly winds and big swells, especially in the first few days kept us off a lot of the west facing marks we wanted to fish so we had to keep searching for shelter to keep catching. But we really worked at it and toughed out the bad weather and we were rewarded for that...read on...
Day one:
Rock mark
lures, hokkais
Results: macks and pollock to 3lbs
Day one we arrived at about 3pm and first order of businees was to collect some crabs to complement the sandeel, rag and lug i had brought. We toiled for nearly two hours and eventaully managed to 3/4 fill a bucket , just enough for what we needed.
After that we stopped in for lunch and then hit a sheltered rock mark near dingle (the wind was really getting up) to get some macks for bait and food for the next couple of days.

We fished hokkais, flashers and tobys and had plenty of macks from the start. The first five casts brought in 12 macks which was more than enough for us , so my dad and i switched to lures to try for some pollock, and shook off any more macks without touching them. some of the mackerel were a good size.

we had about 8 - 10 pollock to 3lbs, and as many macks as we needed so a good start. Pan fried with salt, pepper, lime and bay leaves the macks were delicious
