People: Me, PeteKD

Duration: 2 hours or so

Tide: Dropping

Weather: Tropical mixture of suntan and flooding

Bait. Mackerel

Rigs: Float rigs

Results: Pete 3 mullet to 4 lbs (being generous!) and me two mullet

Catch and Release:: Yes

Another flying visit to Courtmac and they're never complete without some mulleting. I'd been let down on the bait front because of the inclement weather the macks were very scarce. We had to make do with some of the ould wan's fillets from the freezer, some squid from Dun Laoghaire and some frozen bits Pete brought. Well short of what you'd usually regard as the minimum.
All the fish were caught within 20 or so minutes and after that the fishing totally died. You need to keep the spot fed well and often, particularly after you splash a fish through it and we weren't really able to do that because of the shortage of bait.
Still Pete caught his first ever mullet and I did the decent thing and let him outfish me on my home turf. :evil:
Pete has some pics I think.

Many thanks to Blaker for putting me on a mullet inside 5 minutes of dropping a line in. Difficult it certainly was not, even for me with this strange combination of float rod(12' boat match rod... :D ) , float set up, size 8 hooks and 6lb line courtesy of lidl float kit I bought some months back with "ah sure Ill use it somewhere...." :D Very handy and enjoyable fishing. Thanks again mate.
