Report:
Saturday night saw our annual 'late-one' at Glenarm. There was a good turnout and with expectations running high we got stuck in at 20.00.
Conor C had drawn a double peg for us, I got 10 and was rewarded with a peg right beside the steps to the beach which was conveniently right beside the car and a picnic table - 'not a bad start..' I thought as I got my flask and sarnies out and laid out my gear on the picnic table - RESULT!!!!!! :D :D
As the fishing got under-way I was able to survey the comp from my vantage point up on the picnic table 8) , it was clear that the two ends of the beach were fishing best with pegs 1 and 12 lifting a succession of codling, I also noted a few flounder appearing.
Back on my own peg, there were a few knocks on the rod but no takers. After about an hour I brought a small flounder to the beach but at only 17cms, it didn't go on the score-card.
Conor C manged a nice codling at 29cms soon after.
As the light began to fade, I decided to open a tin of dog-food and target the woofers.... Pennel rigs loaded with mackeral and cast to around 100yds soon attracted interest and I managed to hook five in the last 1h 30m - 2 of which managed to slip the hook just as I went to beach them on a wave
I finished the night with 135cms (45cms fixed length for LSD) and fifth overall.
Big congrats to Steve 'Goldenballs' Hewitt with 405cms and first place, closely follwed by Jonny 2nd and Neal 3rd.
Conor C managed 2nd and 10 points in the junior comp...
An enjoyable night.....

It was a good night's fishing although I didn't manage another tail after about 11.30pm even though I was targeting the woofers from 11.30 - 1pm! I think in hindsight I might have been over casting them.
The codling were good fun while it lasted! 8) I was casting out, turning around to biat a trace on the rod tip was already going mental  I know I dropped at least 4 codling on the way in  I was panicking at the end as I new Jonny had a good few codling and 3 woofers so he would have a decent points score too.
P.S It was Neal was second and Jonny third. Put's more points between me a Jonny, he'll be hard enough to beat never mind letting him think he has extra points

Pedigree Chum works best, the dried food crumbles when you put it on the hook - maybe a PVA bag would help??? :D  :D :D :D :D
