Headed down to North Wexford yesterday evening in the hope of smoothies and maybe even a ray in amongst the usual east coast suspects. After a couple of wrong turns we eventually found the spot we were after (thanks to chris for the directions) and set up camp on a nice deserted beach. On first view it didnt look ideal conditions wise as the water was almost chocolate brown but we got stuck in anyway and soon enough we all had a bait in the water.

First cast proved fruitless for all of us then jd opened the account with a dog on his second cast. I was just about to reel in my second one and was making my way over to the tripod when the rod suddenly started to bend over in a hoop and then sprang back. Grabbed it and after a nice tussle where it went swimming up and down the beach a smoothie of about 5lb was landed. The poor little dab on the top hook must never have moved so fast in its life!

That signalled the start of the action and soon everybody was pulling in fish hand over fist, nothing big but plenty of fish to keep us busy. Enjoyable way to spend an evening away from the pub.

I am presuming that is referring to me.... Stick to flattie bashing on your Donegal beaches baldy, lord knows you need the practise....

Thats a cracking idea all the same, have to have a nosey at the calendar and get back to you. Those pups we had earlier this year were the bare minimum required to tick the species off the list, be nice to latch into a proper one.

When you hit a decent one you will know about it, give me a shout if its a midweek session and I will join in.
