Report:
At long last I managed to get out for a fishing session during the good weather. I picked Sean up at 17.30 and we headed up the coast to meet Conor C who was in Cushendun. Got to the ledge for 18.30 and were welcomed by a flat, still sea and glorious weather.
I quickly got a 2 hook fixed pat into the water and managed a wrasee after 5 mins - it was small but put up a great scrap.
Sean was next into a wrasse and it also put up a great fight.
We tried spinning for pollack but with no luck - we reckon it was too bright for the fish to be taking the lures. We then focused on using the baits to target dogs at distance.
I whacked a mackeral fillet out as far as I could and within 5 mins, a good sized dog had the rod bouncing - Happy Days!!!!
The fishing was steady for the next 2 hours. Sean was using a spinning rod to explore the kelp with a few ragworm and after a fruitless 20 mins, he set the rod in the stand to have a smoke...... Big mistake....... somethin hit and hit hard, the rod, stand and second rod took a severe wobble and was heading for the tide only for a quick diving save by Sean.....
After a good scrap - he managed to pull this lunker to the surface.....

Great wrasse - but surprisingly only weighed 1lb 7oz - we expected something around the 3lb mark after that scrap.
The dogs were still appearing at distance and falling to the mackeral bait, I even managed a double shot -

We then moved on to Garron Point for an hour to try for conger - no luck.
All in all a good night and I was well happy to land a decnt catch of fish.....
Tight Lines....
