People:me and Gearoid McSweeney
Duration:see report
Tide:various
Weather:very hot and sunny with mostly light Se winds
Bait:fresh and frozen mack, sandeel and squid
Rigs:pulley pennells and up and over pulley pennels
Results:1 dogfish and 1 thornback
Catch and Release:: Yes
Report:Thursday: Drove down overnight on Wednesday and fished the full morning flood tide at Allroe shore on the Clare Shannon shore. Not a bite.
Called it a day and retired early.
Friday: Had planned to meet Gearoid of the forum but his work commitments delayed this until the Saturday. So having spoke to the guy in Landers I decided with little enthusiasm to try a shore mark between Tralee and Fenit. He had been out in a boat the evening before and between his boat and another they only had one ray. Basically he said there was little about in Tralee bay at the moment. Still fished for about 2 hours to low water without a bite and having lost my bait elastic and realised i had no spare again called it a day.
Saturday: Met Gearoid and fished Kilteery for 3 hours ebb after high water. He got a dog and i got my only ray of the trip a small thornie.
Don't think the really warm weather helped. Also learnt from Gearoid that the Allroe shore mark hadn't been fishing well for a while. Wish I'd known that before spending 6 hours on it Thursday.

Aillroe doesn't have a great reputation. I don't fish it as there are plenty of other marks to that are more consistent. Any of the locals would fish Kildysart pier down on the FB books as new quay and sign posted inish murray instead.

Is that the quay with the ship tied alongside and fishing into the channel between quay and island. If it is I actually looked at it and before deciding on Allroe.

THats the one. I haven't fished it properly as I've only fished clare for comps and thats usually carrigaholt or poulnasharry. I'm told its best at night in the autumn but It can produce big fish in the daytime over the summer.

We've tried this mark on a few occasions, and its difficult to hold bottom during the flood or ebb.
We've caught little here, though that may be a reflection on the quality of the anglers involved!!!!!
Rumours of huge conger abound, and it looks right, but !!!!

I've not fished there a whole lot. Only due to most of the anglers I fish with are on the limerick side and its not a place I'd frequent on my own. Tides are mad and if theres weed forget about it. Lighter tides and having very large leads would be the order of the day. I think lead getting swepth away is just one of things you have to accept here. The lads have had huge huss and good conger here. Neilus would be the man to get in contact with if you wanted to fish here.

Any particular reason you wouldn't fish here on your own. It seems safe enough.

Sorry I should of said I would fish it at night. No reputation I just wouldn't feel safe there. I've heard good reports during the day but I just never tried it during the day.
