Catch and Release:: All other fish released but macs kept
Report:Joined Petekd and Donal for an evening session at one of their rock marks. Weather was absolutely peachy so not surprisingly when we got there it was heaving with mackie bashers. The two lads started feathering up some fresh bait and Davis fluked a herring amonst the many mackerel, jammy fecker  Fish were very plentiful and we were all delighted to have some fresh macs after a winter of frozen stuff.
With the flood tide there was alot of small fish feeding on the bottom, lugworm definetly helped but we all managed a stream of odds and sods. Mostly small dabs and gurnards. When darkness came on we had a flurry of dogfish, good ones though going up to 2lb 14oz. The average size was impressive and I'd say a concerted effort would produce a speci. They were snaffling any baits on the bottom and I even had a small one on a lugworm, even took one on half a small whiting. In amongst the dogs Donal managed a small thornback of around 3lb.
After the tide turned things definetly became quieter and only the odd dog kept showing. It would probably have picked up as the tide started to push harder as the ebb progressed but we had had work in the morning so headed back to the cars and the drive home.

A grand evenings fishing indeed. A plateful of mackerel topped with the herring was put away with gusto last night. Standing in shorts fishing away, those cold windswept horizontal rainy nights were but a distant memory......Isn't summertime great!
