People:myself and fishinmidget
Duration:a good few hours
Tide:falling and rising
Weather:hot hot Hot HOT
Bait: mack
Rigs:various
Results:3 pollock, 2 dogfish, 1 conger
Catch and Release:: Yes (except conger, some passing fella wanted it for dinner as midget caught it)
Report: was like fishing in the canaries, absolutely roasting... couldnt drink enough water..
set off from galway by bus to rossaveal, everyone on the bus had a seat(except me), got to the island ferries for 10:30am and have a nice calm crossing to inishmore, landed in kilronan and parted ways with the girlfriend(put her on a tour bus  :D )
and myself and midget went for a long trek to the south of the island to fish gregory's sound... the first mark we picked was a bit uneventful, so we moved about 100yrds west.. using a 2oz lead and a size 4 hook and a strip of mack, cast and let sink ( a good depth) and slowly retrieved, i pulled up a nice pollock of about 3 lbs, that was me happy for the day :) .. wasnt long before midget jumped up and pulled in a wee conger and a couple of doggies... around 3:30pm we started to freeline lumps of mackerel... midgets BZE started to hop as he slowly pulled in a nice 2lbs pollock.. but it wasnt long before i was holding onto my uptider with a nice 4lbs pollock... by this stage the heat of the day was really intense... so we decided to walk back to kilronan and get food.. stopped at a small pier on the way to see loads of mullet swimming about.. but the call for food was too strong.. after being fleeced in supermac's for a small fortune we went to fish the main pier of inishmore, some serious deep water off the end... but it wasnt long before we saw the ferry coming, so time to pack up and head back...
nicer little reccy for the day.. could have been better fishing but the weather made up for it
pic's to follow...

For my second week in Ireland, I'm renting a cottage near Spiddle
and a day over on Inishmore sounds like a great idea , taking a couple of bikes and just the 'necessary' ammount of tackle !
I'd appreciate any useful advice, both fishing and that all too serious subject of drink !
Thanks !
Andy

Was just thinking that I'd have been looking for cracks in that rock :)
Usually its only after moving on that you notice these things.
