Report:The bright sunshine and light winds put us of fishing Mask so headed west out to Achill. Drove down to Purteen Pier first to have a nosy around. Immediately struck by the absolute clarity of the water, such a difference compared to down south. Headed around to the rocks at the back of the pier and flung all manner of lures but it was only pollock up to 2lb that turned. No decent fish or any mackerel so decided to head further out towards Keem.
Stopped the car a little further on and walked down across fields to the water below, discovered some spectacular rock marks with very deep water. Again plenty of small pollock showed although one of my buddies got smashed up by a pollock estimated at around 6lb to 7lb. Only regret was that I didnt have rag or crab as it looked like amazing wrasse country. Going to have to come back later in the summer.
