Nice fishing Art. How's the river looking? Are you guys able to keep a handle on the poaching?

To announce that you caught 20 bass during the Bass Close season................and all that we talk about on this site about protection.........saddens me greatly. Do we learn nothing?

Anybody who knows this area will know it is almost impossible to avoid bass when fishing for other species and all bass were returned.

In fairness to Art, this was over 8 days, he was looking for bream and all fish were returned.

As coaster said, it's hard to think of ways to avoid catching bass on the south coast.

Fair enough Cortaz, I dont wish to get into a slagging match and I know you do a lot to promote catch and release and prevent poaching but for 30 days outta the year, rock fishing is cool too. It may limit your 'bycatch' of bass at this time during their most critical spawning period.

Cortaz was targeting bream and caught some bass over a few sessions without targeting them, he released them and then carried on fishing for bream. Telling someone to try rock fishing to lessen their by catch of bass seems a bit strange to me as i've caught a few bass fishing for wrasse and pollock off rocks.
It seems to me that all he was doing was giving an honest report of his fishing sessions.

How does one fish this part of the coast without catching bass? Art does the best he can in releasing them. No man does more to promote this magic part of the world!!!

i went with Art last year to one of his rock marks.

1st cast double shot of bass :D

lads, we have gone down this road so many times before. the fish were caught accidentally and immediately returned, at least he's being honest about catching them unlike some of the unscrupulous people who continue actively targeting them (not accusing anyone in particular i just know there are people that havent stopped targeting them)

To be fair to Cortaz he did target breem and even use breem orientated rigs. I admire the honesty to tell you the truth.
He said all bass we're released so ye cant really argue with that.
