All the fish i could see from the window of the apartment got the better of me and i had to give them a try. On the 16th lost 2 with bread and float, saw a salmon so we put on a biggish mepp (only spinner we had) to se if we could get, he followed it in on my first cast with it but didnt take it...salmon bout 8lbs, kept trying but to my suprise i got a mullet nice fish over 4lbs was delighted with my first mullet my friend also got one round same size!! Went out again 2day just with the bread and float hooked one after a hour great fight he was bout 5 and a half lbs. I headed home when i realised i was drawing a bit of attention to myself roaring at the mullet just nibblin at the bread drove me insane!! Really enjoyed my first go at mullet fishing and i cant wait to have another go and try and get some of the bigger ones i saw!!

Where you're talking about although tidal, is mostly fresh for most of the tide. There is a weir just below the bridge. A good spot would also be down by Lapp's Quay, just in front of the Clarion.

And also in front of morrisons island. Saw loads of mullet in there last year up past the school of com footbridge. Aslo saw some people fish for them there. some of them look really big and in huge shoals.

Be careful going for the Salmon, do you have a current licence and did the mepp you were using have a single barbless hook only?, if you landed the salmon you could be in deep water literally, court fine and tackle confiscated

surely its only a problem if the fish is not returned alive, otherwise it was an accidental by catch

not neccesarily, if a fisheries officer deems you to be fishing for salmon with no licence he can confiscate and fine, even if you havent caught one.
for example try going to the moy and fishing a flying c and telling the officers you are only trying to catch resident brown trout.

Have my current license alrite... had the barbs off the hook, and the 2 hooks bent up off the wall as best i could!! did it just to be safe! Im sure theyd only say something if you were using a flying c? would of released the salmon anyway if i was lucky enough to hook him.

Was walking by fordes bar today and yesterday along the river, must have been a shoal of about 50/80 mullet, some around 6/7 lb aswell. Some of them were trying to swim/jump up the weir up passed the bridge
