Report:
A bit early in the year for the fabulous pollock fishing we had here last year. Thanks pete again for the info. never got a chance to fish for the congers, partly due to not getting much mackeral on the boat and also be knackered after fishing a hard boat comp. on the saturday.
On the boat its was mainly pollock (few around 8-9lb) and ballan/cuckoo wrasse with some touching specimen size, also a few ling and the odd cod also a good sized coalie being caught.

Hi Gitboy
Well done thats great fishing for Mullaghmore, I fish there quiet a bit and I never get it that good. Do you mind telling me if it was the breakwater behind the peir with the beacon on the end that you were fishing from or was it somewhere else.
Thanks
Shane

Breakwater: when you walk out on the new pier and then get up on the rocks and walk right to the end, there is a green pole there set up just to the left of it and cast in to what will appears to be a channel. i believe we got these fish cause we where fishing an out going tide and all the water seems to pass through this channel, its not a distinct channel but you can see the water travels that little bit quicker around the breakwater. A cast of about 60 yards is enough any further seems to put you in snaggy ground. Mackeral was the bait we got the bigger flounders on, with rag picking up the smaller dabs. Then leaving the pole on your right go left about 30 feet and cast striaght out - there seems to be a sand bank here and the water is very swallow - here i was catching doggies and got a few almighty bites (sea-trout or turbot i think).
Rock Mark: Drive around the head until you come to the house on the right. Park about 200 ft before it and walk right to the cliff were you see the trail. Follow this to the rock mark you should see were to fish but you will have to hop over a water covered rock onto a mini island to get to the hot spot. you should be fishing facing the big castle in front of you. here at low water you will be fishing into about 15 ft, be careful as at high water you'll find it hard to get off it. Rag is king especially bigger one in good condition but the wrasse here will take anything. got one on an unbaited black feather. hope this helps
