Report:a last minute decsion to go ray fishing but it was well worth it. arrived at 9.45am and fishin for 10.00am i cast the apollo m2 about 60 yards then set up my zzippy bass rod for doggies and cast it around the same distance but at the left hand side of the pier within minute got my first bite on the bass rod thinkin that it was a doggie but when i lefted into the fish it took off like a bat outta hell...5 mins later in came a nice thornie of 4lb 1oz pleased with than as its my first in 2 years...cast the zippy back out with a lump of mac on it to see if there was anymore about then went to check thye big rod then then bass rod doubled over and in came another ray of 4lb 8oz...after that it died off for a couple of hours...then bass rod doubled over again and a nice rayt of 2lb+ maybe 3lb came in...bobby who was on the beach beside the peir was testing out his reels for the compo over at loch ryan next weekend pulled out a thornie of 2lb 4oz..then cue bass rod..it bent over again and another ray of 2lb 5oz came in the last fish went to bobby as hes known for being a last cast wonder pulled out another thornie of 3lb 3oz...all fish fell to mac and sandeel oh and forgot to mention the windsurfers, they where a pain in the backside crossing our lines and cutting then when ever they got there boards tangled in our lines....fishing would have been better if they where at the other end of the bay cause they kept jumping in and any self-respecting ray would have been 5 miles out to sea with the racket they where making..apart from that good day out and will be bac up soon

will have some pics up soon

Fished many places in the bay, and never caught any huss :( , but it looks the type of ground you would normally get them on.

thats what i was think on sunday when i was up, but theres bound to be somewhere around that area you could get huss cause it is a species i never caught and made a point of catching 1 this year

I have fished alot of the area up around there and have never had one in these parts, and have never heard of one being caught.
I have been told that they can be caught off Ramore, but aint seen one there either.
Many years since i caught one anywhere to be honest.
