People: Me & Sharon

Duration: 15.00 to 18.00

Tide: rising (full about 21.30)

Weather: sunny but cold NE wind

Bait: rag and peeler

Rigs: pulley and 3 hooks

Results: small plaice, small flounder, 4 pup starry smoothies and a crab

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report:
I finally managed to get time to head down to morriscastle for the first time this year. Didn't know what to expect but was pretty happy when the first cast produced a nice little plaice. Nothing much for an hour or so when Sharon got her first smoothie. Tiny little thing. Busy measuring, weighing and taking a small fin clip when my rod started bouncing around. Felt pretty weird when I was bringing it in and then couldn't believe what I saw. A flounder on the top hook, a crab busy eating him alive and the smallest smoothie ever on the 2/0 bottom hook. Got another two pup starry smoothies before calling it a night. First smoothie of the season for me so happy days! I'll be putting up more pictures on the project website (the link is below). Hopefully the big smoothies will come in soon.

Thats about the size they are when they are born. I'd say it couldn't be more than a week old. So possibly the mothers were nearby.
