Ramore Head portrush Co.Antrim

Tue May 01, 2007 11:00 pm

People:Me

Duration:6HRS

Tide:LW UP

Weather:Bright and very warm .East wind

Bait:Rag worm and crab

Rigs:single hook paternoster/rotten bottom

Results:30+ballan wrasse and a corkwing wrasse.

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report:decided to head up the north coast today to see what was about ,it was a bit of a last minute thing after sleeping in and missing an early morning tench session :oops: after a few phone calls I managed to book a pound of ragworm and took a run down to the shore to collect a few crabs ,arrived in portrush for 12.30 ,collected the worms from causeway tackle and headed over to ramore head ,I found a nice comfy spot out of the wind and set up camp ,tried one rod with crab and the other baited with rag ,it was strange as there was no interest on either bait in close so i hoofed the rag baited rig out about 70yards and had hits straight away .
Most of the fish were a half decent size ranging from 1lbish to my best so far this year of 3lb 2oz ,also lost the most amount of leads in a long time and had to resort to tying on 2oz ball weights after losing about a dozen 3oz leads :oops:

Its amazing the variation in colours you can get from one mark ,loads of the fish were that red colour but also a fair few green ones as well .

Hi jq ,its a floating bead you see on the snood ,it helps to pop the bait up of the bottom ,plus the colour seems to attract the attention of the fish .
