Report: Had a short but great session before starting night shift at work. Landed onto the beach and first few casts produced a lot of weed and I thought I would have been better staying in my bed :evil:

Fourth cast I was winding in more weed when the "weed" started splashing in the surf :!: Absolutely delighted to see my first ever painted ray on the other end, he made maybe 3lb and whilst not big I was still over the moon. Next cast I had another but this time slightly bigger at maybe 4lb, a full sandeel was the bait that took both fish. I was positively dancing around the beach at this stage. Have to say the fight out of them was very lame, just dead weight and very little pulling at all.

For the last hour no more ray showed but using lugworm I took three school bass of around 1 1/2lb. Whacking great bites of them even for their size. Perfectly formed little things and put them all back straight away. Fish were still feeding when I was forced to leave, was very difficult to leave when there was this kind of action. Back in work now though with a big grin on my face :D

Got one myself at the end of the SAI comp last year. Again whole sandeel cast as far as I could.
