Report:
Met art and teacher in dungarven for a session... headed out to the cunn for 12ish and fished the rise...we went out lure fishing firstly and this was the start of my bad day..my waders were bust at the leg and they filled up with water!!! i was drenched from the word go...barr seeing a few mullet crusing we caught no bass spinnin...tried bait fishing and again no joy barr seein sea trout jumpin in the distance and some not so far away!.. we left the cunn for clonea, after we had a bite and a drop of tea...fished the east side and i was drenched and miserable as all my lug except 15 were dead, my multis also kept birdying 2...so i wasnt a happy chappy.. Teach got the first bass id guess around 2.5lb and it was great incentive to re lug up the rigs and lash out...i got the next fish, a small flounder...then art got his first bass of the day..another schoolie...when it got dark the fog rolled in and covered the beach...u couldnt see in front of you at all... after borrowing some lug of art and some razor of john i baited up and lashed it out...about 5 mins later 1 wollop came to the rod, i instantly picked it up...arts advice was running thro my head and i did exactly what he would have done...i felt the fish on as it swam toward me, i reeled in the slack line until it went all tight..i felt the fish for a moment then i struck BANG i was in to a nice bass... i struggled for 5 mins b4 landing this beast..a new personal best and just under specimen weight..i was shouting up the beach for the lads to come down...few pics later and it still hadnt sunk in...i was chuffed!!! 9.5lbs of pure muscle!!! After that art shouted up to me..i ran down and he had a mighty bend in his rod...i ran to the waters edge and dragged in a nice 4lb bass... it gave him some scrap!! so all in all the fishing was great, conditions were ok but could have been better..the fish all got caught when it was pitch black and when the wind had swung completely round to a southerly..also the moon too but ill let art explain 8) nice 1

A good session. Lovely weather until the fog came in. It was a slow start on the cunnigar but I think that was always going to be hit and miss so early in the year.

I got a second flonder but the fog was so thick nobody could see me! The proof is in the fridge!

When we were packing up, I walked about 40 yds up the beach to where I left my bag. It took me another 10 minutes to find the tripod and my rod again in the fog. Then I couldn't find the bag.

Here's another grainy pic of Dave's bass ...

Congrats on a cracking fish Dave. I think we should organise a meet in the near future on Clonea strand as its not too far away from Cork either and I'm sure we would get a decent turnout. Perhaps Art could chip in with some "Hot Moon" times at weekends possibly some time shortly
after the bass ban?
