Report:

A day out with Drew and his pops, we'd originally set out for Waterfoot Pier but there were a few already there and a couple more about to set up. I then suggested having a look at Dalriada but after one look, it was decided not too. So off to Cushendun it was then and we spent a glorious morning / afternoon on the beach. Drew got 9 small Flounder and his Dad got 1, i caught nothing and the scene was already starting to set, i'd be in for another blanker of a day, not a happy bunny! It was suggested mid afternoon to move on again and we choose Ballycastle but quite honestly it's be easier getting into buckingham palace, never seen as much fences / locked gates etc in my life. Off we went again, this time to Ballintoy, originally planned to have a go in the wee harbour, i wanted to use my mini rod in the hope of a few fish and possible chance to bump up the species list, which currently is woeful. Nothing took an interest in either the small rod or the big ones so we moved across and fished the 'low rocks' or whatever they are known as, this was the first time i'd been to this mark and it is an unbelievable place, huge swells rolling in, lets just say i wouldn't like it there with it blowing a bit   Drew got another 3 Flounder, he enjoyed slaggin me all day about it, not happy and low in confidence at the minute :? Not sure where to go from here to start catching again, hopefully i'll start to learn a bit about the local fishing here and have a good go this year.

Don't worry Noel - fishing during the day at this time of year is difficult.

Drew did very well to get 9 flounder on a bright day like yesterday (wee tip mate - copy his rig patterns and bait)

Re Ballycastle - I'm still gutted about that pier being shut - there are some very big fish at the end of that pier - conger up to 50lb live there - I have seen them!!!!!!
