People: me and my 12yo son
Duration: 3hrs or so on strand , 2 at a wee beach a few miles away
Tide: strand, just slack/just going out, other beach low water up
Weather: lovely
Bait: frozen mack, Fresh lug ( I think?, the ones that leave the squiggles in the sand)
Results: me 1 sea trout (37cm) , son had two plaice, 32 and 34
Report:
stayed here a million times but never fished the sea, amazing area - you could fish for years and never visit the same spot twice.
hit the strand after a fine breakfast in the 'sea rod inn' tide just turning from the slack to going out, first cast with the second rod, just set it into the rest and it started hopping- nice sea trout - on mack strip
This was my first seatrout from the shore :-)) - I have seen loads caught and missed/lost a few, but they have all been at this time if the tide - anybody else notice this?
about an hour later the lad got a plaice also on mack
tried another wee beach on round the coast - loads- of worm casts, the beach is in a bay only about 200yds accross, surrounded by rocks, looked like an amazing mark, dug some worms off the beach an tried them, but the plaice took mack strip again
son was delighted with his day ( esp getting more fish than me !)
talked to a guy who was outin the boat on sat, got small pollock, and their first mackeral of the year.
also heard of a few bass and ray having been taken from the shore over the last few weeks
will definitly be fishing here again
