Beal Strand, Kerry, Shannon Estuary SAC

Mon Mar 26, 2007 10:55 am

People: 8 anglers shannon Estuary SAC

Duration: 3:10pm till 7.10pm

Tide:Low at 5pm

Weather: Started with cold NE turning mild in the end.

Bait: Fish baits, lug, crab

Rigs:Various

Results:
Gearoid won with a 42cm wing span ray
David O' sullivan came second with a 30cm flounder
Estuary Lad came third with a flat (don't know the size) but no prize

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report:Fishing was desperately poor with half the anglers blanking. Flats were caught close in with the ray at range. I fished various 3 hook rigs with mainly size 2 hooks and hadn't a tap. This place just turned bad in the last few weeks which was unfortunate. Well done to gearoid on winning the first ever competition he was in and the inaurgaral shannon estuary SAC competition.

Our next Comp will be on theSunday 8th April on Inch Beach, Co. Kerry from 2-6pm. The number of competitors will be well up on yesterdays comp.

Hi Lads,i was wondering how ye got on, was just coming off the beach as you were going on, fished for about 3 hours just had one flat ,fishing very poor ,and very cold breeze north easterlys ,when the winds from the east the fish feed least, as the saying goes. Are you a new club? it was mentioned on the forum recently, well done hope you have better fishing on Inch next time

The club was started up this year by John so that their would be club fishing this side of the Estuary. Fair dues to John becuase hes put a good deal of effort and money into starting club. It isn't in the IFSA so you'd have to join to be insured but I think the plan is to join in the furture. Theirs a fair number of comps in north kerry so it would be well worth joining.

Liam. Was that you in the white van?

Due to the club being not in the ifsa you will have to pay 30e to join the club for insurance purposes. Entry fee to matches is 15e and longest flat and round are 2.50e each. Cash for prizes.

Email John and he'll send you on the fixture list and rules.
