Report:
left belfast at 7.30am on thursday and the crossing was very rough and arrived in bridlington for 4.30pm. spent friday lookin at venues and ways to gettin down to the beaches cause it was all cliffs. the 2 venues we choose to fish where aldbrough and mappleton due to easy access and gulleys at low water. sat morn left for the beach at 6.00am and arrived for 7.00am and got set up..fishin was very slow cause the wind picked up and there was alot of weed on the beach which broke the grips out straight away...my mate had the only cod out of our group at 3lb on the dot he didn't know it was on cause he had alot of weed on his line...on up the beach there was a couple more cod pulled in at around the 6lb - 7lb mark....at the weight there was several big fish a number of cod at 8lb to 9lb mark and whiting to 3lb....sun fished mappleton and the weather was brillant but come 9.00am the wind really picked up with alot of boys leavin 2hrs into the compo but the three of us stay on....casting was made extremely difficult with a southernly wind which was catching you half way into the cast but the last 30mins of the compo thr rockling made an appearence but the only thing was the don't count in england cause they are classified as a mini species...all in the overall winner had a cod of 10lb to lift the big cash prize along with the heaviest fish which he got £2000 for...biggest fish other than cod was a whiting og 3lb which was 54cm long...some of the prizes up for grabs where out of this world ie, century tip tornados, wr300's, c3's, k2 red metals, samalites headlamps and base lamps, diawa tnxs 130pm's and the list goes on...the championships is on the 1st and 2nd of march next year fishing times from 9am to 3pm...we will deffo be there next year cause it was great crack and an experience and i think the 3 of us that attended have picked up a few tricks on cod fishing for all over the british coast which will be put to the test over here oh and got stuck in scotland on monday all the boats got called off  ...

Pity about the weather Johnny. I was going to ask ya about this one.
Fair play to ya for sticking it out in the crap weather.

yeah was hoping to pull a cod out on the sun but with that wind and tryin to put a big bait out at distance is a nightmare and i'm talkin about casting 4 black lug and either 5 party squid or a whole peeler anythin smaller and the cod will not touch it

Fair play to ye Jonny for sticking it out.

Completely different fishing compared to what we are used to by all accounts.....
