I've been out 4 times since Friday, no Macs but I had a few sandeel while spinning in cobh yesterday morning, I've seen some very small pockets of mackerel breaking since Friday , i had a few Pollock , since Friday I've tried cobh and crosshaven on each high tide morning and evening I've heard they are being caught in kinsale this morning and off the rocks in ballycotton two nights ago, im gonna toss a coin later to see where going tonight, there's a trawler having work done it in cobh this morning so the pier was limited for casting space

5 large mackerel last night at dusk on Inis Oirr on silver feathers. That was over an hour and a half of fishing.

I wonder is this the results of over fishing the mackerel by iceland and co. I haven't of heard of a single mac taken in dublin yet. I know they can be late up here but u guys down south are not getting much .we know they will arrive soon but there getting later and later each year. It could be down to global warming and season's shifting or overfishing or maybe both. Either way its not looking good for the mackerel.

I decided to go Conger fishing last night and left all my spinning gear at home and Murphy's law applied, Mackerel over the three spots I looked at in East cork, lads were catching from Ballycotton to Guileen , decent sizes 1lb to a lb and a half,I helped one elderly man land 3 on the one line, they were fat heavy feckers, their not in in large shoals but decent size they appear to be chasing the huge shoals of sand eel , thank god i had my net I got two nice bait boxes of sand-eel for the freezer along with a half a dozen dogfish and I lost a conger as I missed the bite , I was busy with the net. Back out again after work at 6pm
