Reading this thread and a few things stick out

1- Bhoy32 your punctuation is a disgrace, although your spelling is adequate, your grammar is shameful - just really bad.

2 -
a couple from france decide to jump into there big car
- do all french couples have big cars

3 - how many french couples have you met?

4 -
the lunatics hugging the fence for dear life probably be a tourist or a fellow angler curious to get a lookat your doubler that takes his eyes off road never spotting the anglers buddy on other side of road he the stupid fella fishing on the wrong side sneaked onto bridge  quickly mounts footpath and pins the fool to the fence kills him stone dead probably was a nice man with a family who knows maybe you your son or maybe it was just a stupid person fishing the world renowned youghal bridge
- there is a recession on and any tourist is welcome income to Youghal, you should be ashamed to drive tourists away just because they might die.

5 -
yet still a bit under the influence sees that there is a pole twisted
- mocking foreign nationals is not acceptable

6 -
sees that there is a pole twisted and bent
- mocking homosexual foreign nationals is really not acceptable

7 -
maybe he will recall that day in school when they were told about the bad bends
- homophobia again

8 -
could ya explain to people the meaning of stupid
- just plain lazy, pick up a dictionary, this isn't countdown!

9 -
snapped his rod in car door orrrrr
- you finished this sentence sounding like a pirate.

( Which i quite liked, throwing in different types of characters makes the narrative more interesting, and varies the appeal for a wider audience - nice touch )

10-
so we now have an oiled french wee fella hunter
- sounds a bit like something you would see in Amsterdam

11 -
im anti dots and things
- racism again

12 - from enda pegger
which i happen to see while passing
- why didn't you get out of the car and takes some pics - just laziness.

13 -
P.S GENUINE PICS ONLY NO CUT OUTS FROM MAGAZINES
- be more specific, if he posted pics from playboy or juggs, i think most people would be quite happy. However if it is pics from knitting monthly i think we will all be a bit unhappy.

14 -
every good angler sneaks out onto youghal bridge and swing there leads around the place casting the 30 yards
- this is a very poor description of a pendulum cast

15 -
but i knew if i got people distracted i would find the location of the double double figure cod holes of youghal
- this sounds sneaky to me, especially the use of the word " distracted "

16 -
dont tell your stupid friends or stupid youths cause they not allowed to fish the bridge
- just outright discrimination against the stupid

17 -
going to make it my new quest since im questless at the moment
- what was your previous quest, you weren't in Lords of the Rings, were you?

18 -
(might be able to raid a few tyres just before the bridge)
- when did you put down tyres?

19 -
and a big coolerbox so i could feed the neighbours when i get back
- nice to see a sense of community is still alive

20 -
is there enough room for a ron thompson shelter on the foot path cause i like me comforts boy
- shelter would probably fit in the left hand lane

and finally
would it be worth my while using boat rods with baited feathers so i can haul 3 codling up easier ? cant wait for this
- look at him, so happy, so enthusiastic - bhoy32's negative commentary hasn't affected him at all. Its like Christmas all over again for him. Sure, may not get a double figure cod ( i reckon he will, they're all over 9cm anyway ), and sure he may get hit by a lorry, or more likely enda pegger will see him on the bridge and swerve, but he will be happy to have fished "the world renowned Youghal bridge ".

My work here is done.
I am now going to try and sort out that little scuffle in the middle east

That was a fine haul for fish. The fishing must have dramatically picked up after I spoke to you on the bridge.

To clarify - I wasn't fishing on the bridge on Saturday, I was fishing from the river bank upstream but after I packed up I walked along the bridge to see how the guys were doing.

As Bhoy32 mentioned it is a very dangerous place to fish from. The foot path is very narrow, you would need to be constantly vigilant of the passing traffic. Even with the prospect of double figure cod I would be very relutant to fish from there.

Another point to consider is that there will be a high mortality rate for any fish released - it is a long drop down from the bridge. So it is more a case of catch and feed the gulls rather than catch and release.

ok enough silly stories the fact is youghal bridge isnot worth the bother these days
the stories of the bridge throwing up good fish are out there no denying that but all these stories came from the generation of anglers that could catch nice cod all winter season every winter season 8) so im lead to believe anyway from most marks in the harbour these would have been the 80s i think when the volume of cars on the road was nothing compared too now
the footpath on the bridge was also larger way back then there is plenty of places to fish in the harbour where it is safe to fish and these other marks produce the same stamp of fish
MY POINT BEING THAT NO FISH NO MATTER THE SPECIES OR SIZE IS NOT WORTH PUTTING YOUR LIFE OR A YOUTHS LIFE IN DANGER.
facts for tom
in bygone days people parked there cars on the bridge to go fishing
there has been deaths on the bridge
a lot of the railing on the bridge is after being replaced since it went in new few months ago because motorists have crashed into them
the kirb the whole length of the bridge is crusted up with car tyre rubber from dozy drivers
it is not the 80s anymore
everyone is capable of having a stupid moment it should not be fatal and thats all it takes on the bridge

lads have been trying to read this between choking on my coffee and wiping tears from my eyes  .bhoy 32 sums it all up its not worth putting your life at risk for a few fish.the area in question is lethal i cant believe anybody in their right mind who would promote such an area to be fished.the youghal area has some of the best marks in the country for anglers which are very accessible but its not for me to name these because the real anglers know them  if you know what i mean

I reckon the double cod are in Youghal alright, the lads just don't want anyone down there!! :D

Seriously though the bridge is not a comfy fishing spot, go down to the river bank and fish in comfort, you'll find it easier to hold bottom too. 50-60 yards or closer from the shore will see you into the same fish anyway if they are there.

Good luck to anyone who tries it, stay safe if you do try the bridge but IMO not worth the hassle.

Sh*t lads, we've been rumbled.

Ok, ok we admit it, its all been a wind up, there are HUGE cod in Youghal. They are all over the place, you can practically walk over the blackwater river on their backs. 8)

no ya didnt claim huge cod for your days fishing but double figure cod got at same spot last year you claimed and while i was reading the thread the interest to fish here was growing from anglers that might not be familiar with the place but the thought of catching record amounts of rockling and possibly a biggie cod thrown in would be sure to prove tempting for a lot of anglers the tips were rolling in and everything was set for a hunt but what no one mentioned was the safety risk involved with fishing here would not like to hear about a tragic accident just thought i would mention it 8)

fair play to ye it is safe "IF" see the problem i saw was that until i posted nothing had been said about the "IF" all the speak was of the great fishing nothing about the "IF"
so now the whole country knows about the "IF"
could you please give me the definition of a real angler
thats the kind of attitude that drives people into danger trying to prove to the world that there the real deal all they end up doing is wasteing the emergency services time when they have to be plucked from the water

dont think you can go over the top on such a topic everyone has heard of a tragedy that could have been avoided and this mark is one of the most dangerous in the harbour only going to be a matter of time before an angler is hurt here cold hard truth always hurts never thought it would open a can of worms :|

Bedtime for this topic I think gents, it's going nowhere! Points have been made by both sides.

Fish the bridge if you want to just be careful if you do, that's the message here!
