In reference to JW's strange creature, looks like a chiton of some sort to me, not a sea slug.

I think it is a sea mouse, which is actually a type of worm. Mike ladle mentions it here

I know it as a Sea-Mouse also...I hooked one once on a boat trip and was advised to chuck it staright back over as bait....I remember catching a sizeable Ling on it.

ok, think you both might be right - any invertebrate biology I did is a dim memory these days. Chitons have 8 plates as I recall, can't really make them out on John's photo and it does look like the sea mouse pictures.
Is that Alby's secret bait? :D

No secret bait for Alby, he just kept putting his baits where the fish were, all day long! Took the rest of us far too long to figure out where that was! :D

Great to be back into it lads and good to see everyone too. Great start to the year for SAI lets hope it's a good one, not many clubs would have 30 members fishin the first week in Jan, weldone to all for attending.
