i target the Bass off this beach only over the winter months Fedstar, as its the only type of sea fishing worth the effort during the winter months i reckon..
but i would do it right through the whole winter. so you reckon what months are best? when did Billybob get his fish and when's best for the trout. im guessing sept, oct, nov then?
thanks for the advice there. appreciated

Hiya Charlie,

It was not Neill nor Billybob that caught those fish { he would need to be divorced } lol im not at liberty to say who it was but i"m sure if you hunt through the SFNI you"ll find the old post..
But for us its around July to September may be into November if we get an Indian summer, so you are right. Fresh Gutted yellows tails make the difference.
Also i know they where not monsters, but 2lb and 3lb Cod where not what you would call scarce this year, my Bass/Pollock/Conger fishing takes a back seat every Winter for the Cod hunt, Now i"ve had Bass from Downhill when the beach has had frost on it, but you cannot have a big easterly blow every night, so this is when i might venture out Bass fishing...

Its what we know to do, that we practice, and this gives us anglers the best chance of catching our intended fishys,, How many blanks spent waiting for that Cod lol when i could have been catching Bass :P and vice versa ?

Your a fine fellow Charlie,, keep up the good work..
