kerrywez wrote:Nice fish Sean, really plump beauties. They must have been feeding up well on the bait disturbed by the storms. I wish I was going down there, but my knee is just too sore from my walk down Rossbeigh beach, should have known better. Maybe next week if I can get keeping the weight, plenty of that as you know, of it. Well done, lust a great pity you lost the bigger fish.
Best regards Wez

Saltwater Fishing in Ireland by Clive Gammon one of the chapters is "The Codling of Youghal" he fishes around the south coast from wexford to kerry written in 1966. Interestingly he says that he fished it November and had decent fishing. Best bait being used by the locals who were hand lining commercial fishing was week old stinking mussel! But he said when he was leaving the locals said January was the best time for the big fish and best fishing. With the late winter and high water temp maybe we will get another bit out of it I hope so wasn't out since Nov i think! Thanks for posting

sadly we had a go there while the storm was still in full swing. it was a case of cast out, count to 20 then haul in the 10kg of weed and debris on your line![]()

it was a bit freaky watching not just tree limbs, but actual full trees float past at speed
