That would be a shame. That can be a good mark on the bigger tides.

Fishing was poor enough during the week further up too. The weather is too calm at the moment, we need a few days of southerly/southwesterly gales to lash the south coast to get the bigger cod moving back in again.

Is anybody catching anything other than tiddlers or whiting at Green Park at the moment? From my experience you only get a few decent fish there when there is a good surf in the bay. I always found it was a waste of time in calm conditions.

I avoid most harbour/quay wall cod marks for this reason. I like the peaceful and non-competitive aspects of fishing too much ;)

If you like catching weed its a great spot, I have never had any luck in the green park, It is a spot to bring kids though, my daughter had her first fish there during the summer.

Weed can be bad there (and elsewhere in Youghal Harbour) when the tidal cycle is going from neap to spring tides.
Weed is much less when going from springs to neaps as most of the weed and debris is left on the shore by the weakening tides.
Of course if there has just been a big blow the weed will be there regardless of the tidal cycle.

I havn't been fishing much over the last few weeks. I did have a good session a couple of weeks ago when the strong southerly winds were blowing (15 cod, 10 of those between 2-5 lbs) but last week I blanked- too much fresh water coming down the Blackwater and too much weed. I would think fishing around Youghal is going to be tough for the next week or so until the weather calms down and the flood water subsides.
