Good pollock, but I'm more impressed with taking a gar on the surface with a kilty. I'd have loved to have seen that. Nearly as much as I'd have loved to have done it myself!

thats anice pollack there! was in kerry a few weeks ago and had pollack to 7 1/4, wrasse to four, and bull huss to 12 1/2, no big conger(weather stopped us fishing where we wanted) and no bass at all( bait fishing in 'perfect conditions'), i,m beginning to think bait fishing for bass is a myth down there!!

Sounds like you were fishing a deep water mark..?
In April/May the fishing for bass with bait (lug in particular) couldnt be easier, just find water..!!

well done lads some mega sessions

i dont know why anyone would say bass wont take bait in kerry ? had 4 belters in 4 hours last month had em on rag and razor

well, we fished the iveragh peninsula for the last two years at rossbeigh, and various beaches along waterville including smugglers and ballinskelligs, day and night, in perfect conditions from slack water up using peeler king rag razor and lug, baits coming back untouched every cast, there were seven lads apparently from belfast way fished there two weeks previous to us with exact same results!! the only thing i would say is that we fished very small tides(8th to 12th september this year), maybe that wouldnt help matters, we had 40 prime peelers and 100 king rag in perfect condition along with lug and razor so maybe it would be better in bigger tides cos we had south westerly and westerly winds which gave a great surf

or maybe its time to head back up to 'the dingle', the peninsula i love the most!
